The 27mm shaft feels noticeably sturdier than the thinner bars I've used at other gyms, and the deep diamond knurling locks in my grip even with sweaty hands mid-set. Curl after curl, the center knurling keeps the bar from sliding around on my thighs when I'm doing preacher work.
